Wednesday (2:55-4:25 pm) | Pre-School Kitchen (B206)
Semester 1 Programme | Cost: $260 (Add. Material Cost: $100)

The cooking class CCA shows the children the journey from field to fork. It offers students the experience to learn how to prepare a nice meal that they can enjoy with their friends. We will introduce the young Cooks to different types of food like fresh fruits and vegetables from all around the world. Health is a very important aspect, so we want to prepare wholesome food like healthy ketchup or healthy ice cream. During the semester, children learn which ingredients we need for a certain recipe. We will discuss food waste and how we can use leftovers for other meals hereby creating less waste. The correct and safe use of the utensils will be shown every lesson. The food we didn’t consume or use at the end of the lesson will be packed in a recyclable container with each student’s name. This also contributes to the idea of creating less waste and saving our environment. Thank you for returning the container every lesson and for helping save our planet. At the end of the semester the students will create their own meals as a team.

Annabelle Naidu and Myrthe Hardemann have been involved at the Pre-Primary Section as teacher assistants over the last couple of years. In their classes, they also conducted cooking lessons once a week. They both like to demonstrate and teach their students different cooking techniques, how to cook healthy food and cultivate in these very young children an instinctive no food waste habit and they do this with passion and fun. They like to cook dishes from diverse parts of the world and imbue a sense of pride in their achievements and to share their new found skills and ability at home for family and friends. They both are passionate in what they do. Their love for cooking and sharing their knowledge in a fun and lively manner would be invaluable for young persons confidence not only in learning cooking skills but also in all other pursuits.
