Do you like to be creative on your computer and enjoy designing? Do you want to make your posters and presentations look great? Do you like to edit photos? Would you like to design your own logo? Do you love to draw and want to take your sketches to the next level? Would you have fun finding, using and creating cool fonts? Would you like to create promotional posters for events etc. and do more than just word processing? In this Photoshop CCA, students will learn about design elements and how to apply the tools in Adobe Photoshop to enhance their creations. The course will cover tools such as layers, filters, text styles before moving into graphic manipulation, logo design and photo editing. The aim of the CCA is to teach students about design elements, layout and aesthetics so they are able to apply this knowledge to their digital projects. Extra material fees may apply for T-shirt printing.

Over the past 10 years I have been teaching Grade 6 and 7 students MYP Design and previously KS3 ICT. In the MYP Design units, students applied the skills of Adobe Photoshop to work through the MYP Design Cycle in order to design and create unique solutions to fit varied real-life problems. I personally enjoy using Photoshop to create posters, cards, photo editing, fonts and logos. I think students can easily apply basic skills within the application to really improve the layout and presentation of not only their school projects but their own personal creative designs and projects.
