The Running Club is geared toward the development of the athlete. This training focuses on providing athletes with a solid base of speed and endurance as well as spending ample time fine tuning technique and form. The first semester is focused towards stamina and endurance (cross country running) and the second semester is focused towards other disciplines in athletics. Running games are a major part of the CCA to develop the students speed, agility and stamina. The students have the opportunity to participate in the ACSIS Cross Country Running event in November and the ACSIS Track and Field event in the month of May. In preparations for this events, morning sessions will be offered on Mondays from 6.45 to 7.40am in the months of September and October. The CCA will sometimes be conducted off the school campus, at other schools or in nearby parks. In such cases, bus transportation will be provided, as necessary.

Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools
Students of this CCA may be selected by the coach to join the competitive team in the respective age group in order to represent GESS at ACSIS league events. Please visit for more information about our school teams and next year’s ACSIS competitions.


JO HUTCHINS has worked at GESS for many years. She studied bachelor of Human Movement majoring in Education at the University of Tasmania and has been teaching Physical Education in Primary and Secondary schools for the past 9 years. She has experience in coaching both junior and senior basketball teams, various athletic and swimming squads for competitive sports. Jo has a love for sports and the outdoors and enjoy playing touch rugby and cross country running.
